در ویرایش چهارم سال 1392 مبحث نهم مقررات ملی ساختمان ایران اقدامات زیر انجام گرفته است:

1- ویرایش جدید مشتمل بر دو بخش، که بخش اول با عنوان "مفاهیم کلی و مشخصات مصالح" در دوازده فصل و بخش دوم با ‏عنوان "اصول تحلیل و طراحی نیز در 12 فصل منظور شده است.

2- اصلاح برخی اشکالات و رفع ابهامات موجود در فصول مختلف.‏

‏3- در بخش اول با اصلاح برخی فصول قبلی، چهار فصل جدید با عناوین پایایی (دوام) بتن و میلگردهای فولادی، اجرای بتن در ‏شرایط غیر متعارف، بتنهای ویژه و ارزیابی و کنترل کیفیت و بازرسی بتن و مصالح مصرفی تدوین و ارائه گردیده است.

‏4- در بخش دوم که قالب 12 فصل ارائه شده، ضمن ارائه روشها و مبانی طراحی، به دلیل افزودن موضوع بتنهای توانمند، ‏اصلاحاتی در فصول مختلف صورت گرفته به طوری که روشهای ارائه شده برای بتنهای معمولی و توانمند قابل استفاده باشد.

5- با توجه به اهمیت و توسعه استفاده از بتن پیش تنیده در پروژه های مختلف ساختمانی از جمله صفحات پوشش، آخرین فصل ‏بخش دوم به معرفی محدودیتهای طراحی و اجرای اعضای بتن پیش تنیده پرداخته است.‏

تست های غیر مخرب شامل استفاده از روش های انتشار موج، الکترومغناطیس، هدایت الکتریکی و هدایت حرارتی برای تست سلامت سازه می باشد. با استفاده از این تست ها هرگونه اشکال در سازه مشخص شده و امکان تشخیص سلامت سازه وجود دارد. کتاب تست های غیر مخرب فونداسیون های عمیق “Nondestructive Testing of Deep Foundations” تکنیکهای متنوع جمع آوری اطلاعات از سلامتی و کیفیت مصالح استفاده شده در فونداسیون های عمیق را توضیح داده و به تشریح هر یک از روش ها می پردازد.

تست های غیر مخرب در همه ی مراحل عمر یک سازه از کنترل کیفیت ساخت سازه جدید تا پیش بینی طول عمر باقیمانده سازه و همچنین مونیتور کردن سازه در زمان تخریب کاربرد دارد. تست های غیر مخرب کاربرد فزاینده ای در پروژه های فونداسیون های عمیق پیدا کرده اند. هرچند اغلب بدون درک محدودیت های این روش اقدام به تست های غیر مخرب می شود و در نتیجه نتایج این تست ها قابل استفاده نیست. به منظور توانایی در تعیین روش مناسب برای تست غیر مخرب و تشخیص ویژگی ای نامناسب هر کدام از روش های مورد استفاده، لازم است تا مهندس مشاور و یا پیمانکار با توانایی ها، قابلیتها و محدودیت های هر کدام از روش ها آشنا باشد.

در کتاب تست های غیر مخرب فونداسیون های عمیق مسائل زیر پوشش داده شده است:

  • توصیف تکنیکهای متداول در ساخت و اجرای فونداسیون های عمیق و نوع مصالح مورد استفاده در آنها
  • ارائه تاریخجه مختصری از روش های تجاری تست غیر مخرب
  • خلاصه توانایی ها و محدودیت های هر یک از روش ها

Frost Durability of Roller-Compacted Concrete Pavements

The growth of roller-compacted concrete pavement use in cold climate regions often is impeded by concerns regarding its ability to resist frost attack. Most published laboratory test results have indicated that the frost resistance and particularly the deicer salt-scale resistance of RCC are not always satisfactory. However, long-term field performance indicates that non-air entrainment RCC can be quite resistant to frost action. The report provides a comprehensive review on the current practices and recent developments in material selection and aggregate gradation, mixture design methods, production process and placement techniques. Improved construction techniques and recent developments in mixture design methods have resulted in stronger more durable RCC. Data shows that as little as 1.5% of spherical air bubbles can have a beneficial influence on the frost resistance durability of RCC. Test results indicate that ASTM C 1262 appears to be a reliable method of assessing the frost durability of RCC.

Systematic, well-designed research provides the most effective approach to the solution of many problems facing highway administrators and engineers. Often, highway problems are of local interest and can best be studied by highway departments individually or in cooperation with their state universities and others. However, the accelerating growth of highway transportation develops increasingly complex problems of wide interest to highway authorities. These problems are best studied through a coordinated program of cooperative research. In recognition of these needs, the highway administrators of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials initiated in 1962 an objective national highway research program employing modern scientific techniques. This program is supported on a continuing basis by funds from participating member states of the Association and it receives the full cooperation and support of the Federal Highway Administration, United States Department of Transportation. The Transportation Research Board of the National Academies was requested by the Association to administer the research program because of the Board’s recognized objectivity and understanding of modern research practices. The Board is uniquely suited for this purpose as it maintains an extensive committee structure from which authorities on any highway transportation subject may be drawn; it possesses avenues of communications and cooperation with federal, state and local governmental agencies, universities, and industry; its relationship to the National Research Council is an insurance of objectivity; it maintains a full-time research correlation staff of specialists in highway transportation matters to bring the findings of research directly to those who are in a position to use them. The program is developed on the basis of research needs identified by chief administrators of the highway and transportation departments and by committees of AASHTO. Each year, specific areas of research needs to be included in the program are proposed to the National Research Council and the Board by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. Research projects to fulfill these needs are defined by the Board, and qualified research agencies are selected from those that have submitted proposals. Administration and surveillance of research contracts are the responsibilities of the National Research Council and the Transportation Research Board. The needs for highway research are many, and the National Cooperative Highway Research Program can make significant contributions to the solution of highway transportation problems of mutual concern to many responsible groups. The program, however, is intended to complement rather than to substitute for or duplicate other highway research programs

Control of Cracking in Concrete State of the Art

Causes of Cracking oncrete structures do not frequently fail due to lack of strength, rather due to inadequate durability or due to improper maintenance techniques. The most common cause of premature deterioration is attributed to the development of cracks (Mehta, 1992; Hobbs, 1999). Cracking can occur in concrete pavements and structures for several reasons that can primarily be grouped into either mechanical loading or environmental effects. It should also be noted that for most practical structures, reinforcement is used to bridge and hold cracks together when they develop, thereby assuring load transfer while adding ductility to a relatively brittle material. Therefore not all cracking causes concern. Reinforced concrete elements are frequently designed on the assumption that cracking should take place under standard loading conditions (Nilsson and Winter, 1985; Nawy, 2000). For example continuously reinforced concrete pavements (CRCP) are designed with longitudinal steel in an amount adequate to hold shrinkage cracks tight, while joints exist only at locations of construction transitions and on-grade structures. In this pavement type wherein shrinkage cracks develop over time and stabilize over the first 3 to 4 years, cracking in the transverse direction in specific patterns is not detrimental to the structure as long as the cracks remain tight and retain good load transfer. Therefore, cause of cracking should be carefully identified to determine which cracks are common and acceptable and which cracks merit repair or further investigation. Several guides currently exist to assist in determining the cause of cracking including the American Concrete Institute (ACI) committee reports “Guide for Making and Condition Survey of Concrete in Service” (ACI 201-92) and “Causes, Evaluation and Repair of Cracks in Concrete Structures” (ACI 224-R93). Mechanical loads induce strains that can exceed the strain capacity (or strength capacity) of concrete, thereby causing cracking. Concrete may be particularly susceptible to cracking that occurs at early-ages when concrete has a low tensile capacity (Kasai, 1972). If the loads are applied repeatedly or over a long period of time, fatigue and creep can affect the strain (or strength) development that can lead to failure (Bazant and Celodin, 1991) or reduce stresses (Shah et al., 1998). Although numerous factors influence whether concrete would be expected to crack due to environmental effects, it can be simply stated that cracking will occur if the stress that develops in response to internal expansion or the restraint of a volumetric contraction that results in stress development exceeds the strength (or fracture resistance) of the material. Internal expansion is primarily caused by chemical attack or freezing of the pore water while volumetric contraction is typically attributed to moisture changes, chemical reactions, and thermal changes

General
The NSCS remains laid out in terms of process rather than in terms of materials and workmanship. British Standards are referenced rather than reproduced. Where the NSCS is at variance with British Standards, the NSCS is to be used. The NSCS covers requirements for the construction of concrete building structures of in-situ concrete, precast concrete, and hybrid concrete systems. It is especially relevant for structures designed to BS 8110 and EN 1992 (EC2). Where the NSCS is to be used for structures in extreme environments, those produced by specialist construction techniques or those of a specialist design nature, Part 2, Project specification, should include the appropriate particular requirements.
The NSCS is written with safety in mind but does not specify health and safety requirements as these are covered by legal regulations that apply to all construction and are outside the scope of this specification. Where specifications, standards or regulations are referenced, readers should ensure that they refer to the latest editions.
NSCS Part 1. Standard specification
Specific obligations are placed on the Specialist Concrete Contractor, the Employer and the Engineer. In some cases these will be different organisations; sometimes any or all will be represented by the same
organisation. However, their responsibilities remain as required under the Contract.
NSCS Part 2. Project specification
This part is to be read in conjunction with NSCS Part 1 and outlines project information specific to a particular project and additional to the requirements of NSCS Part 1. Part 2 covers the exchange of information necessary between the Employer and Specialist Concrete Contractor at both tender stage and contract stage. The relevant sections of Part 2 should be completed at the appropriate stage. Part 2 allows the Engineer responsible for the design the freedom to incorporate specific Clauses to vary the standard Clauses of Part 1. It is emphasised that NSCS Part 1 has been produced as a non-prescriptive specification and therefore any amendments through NSCS Part 2 should be as few as possible. The pro-forma layout of Part 2 acts as an aide memoire to the disclosure of relevant information for most types of project. To aid the task of preparing a Project specification, permission is hereby expressly given for users of this document to copy any part or the whole of Part 2, Project specification, without infringement of copyright.

The Guidance notes are for information only and do not form part of the Specification. The NSCS has the same scope as BS EN 13670 for Building Structures.

The use of shotcrete has recently come under scrutiny. The book presents a basic introduction on the various nonlinear concrete fracture models considering the respective fracture parameters. To this end, a thorough state-of-the-art review on various aspects of the material behavior and development of different concrete fracture models is presented. The development of cohesive crack model for standard test geometries using commonly used softening functions is shown and extensive studies on the behavior of cohesive crack fracture parameters are also carried out. The subsequent chapter contains the extensive study on the double-K and double-G fracture parameters in which some recent developments on the related fracture parameters are illustrated including introduction of weight function method to Double-K Fracture Model and formulization of size-effect behavior of the double-K fracture parameters. The application of weight function approach for determining of the KR-curve associated with cohesive stress distribution in the fracture process zone is also presented. Available test data are used to validate the new approach. Further, effect of specimen geometry, loading condition, size-effect and softening function on various fracture parameters is investigated. Towards the end, a comparative study between different fracture parameters obtained from various models is presented.

Instructions on the proper way to receive, store and lift decking bundles are reviewed. Good practices for panel placement and fastening to the underlying frame are presented. Additional fastening needed when panels are used as in-plane bracing are included. Typical construction loads that are placed on the decking when used as a temporary working platform are listed. Essential information on permanent and temporary supports is presented. Proper installation techniques for shear connectors are reviewed. This European Standard applies to SCC for structures cast in situ, precast structures, and structural precast
products for buildings and civil engineering structures.
This European Standard applies to SCC which is self-compacting by gravity to retain no appreciable amount
of entrapped air other than entrained air. This Standard applies to normal-weight concrete. Experience with
SCC containing light-weight or heavy-weight aggregate and fibres is limited. Some but not all provisions of this
Standard apply for these forms of SCC but the requirements have to be determined on a case by case basis.
The SCC may be mixed on site, ready-mixed concrete or produced in a plant for precast concrete products.
In addition to those in EN 206-1:2000, this European Standard specifies requirements for:
 the constituent materials of SCC;
 the properties of fresh and hardened SCC and their verification;
 the limitations for SCC composition;
 the specification of SCC;
 the factory production control procedures;
 the conformity criteria.
Other European Standards for specific products e.g. precast products or for processes within the field of the
scope of this European Standard may require or permit deviations from this European Standard.
The limitations described in the scope of EN 206-1:2000 apply to SCC conforming to this European Standard.
This European Standard does not cover health and safety requirements for the protection of workers during
production and delivery of concrete

This report on Bridge Foundations and Substructures summarises the findings of a survey of the attitudes of bridge designers in the United Kingdom. The objective of the survey was to gain some idea of the philosophies adopted by engineers in their choices of different types of foundations and substructures and of different methods of analysis.
The report was also expected to highlight those areas where further guidance and research are required, and where fInancial savings might be effected.
The survey initially involved discussions during 1975/76 with about 120 experienced engineers within 46 organisations acknowledged below. During 1977 a considerable amount of additional advice and comment was added as a result of detailed criticism of a preliminary draft by the Steering Committee. The subsequent Draft Commentary on Current Practice in Design of Bridge Foundations and Substructures was published by the Building Research Establishment to stimulate public comment and it formed the text for a Seminar held at the Building Research Station in October 1977 attended by about 150 engineers. A considerable quantity of further comment, advice and criticism was collected at the Seminar and received in writing from bridge designers in the UK and abroad. This information has also been incorporated in this report.

Standard Method of Detailing Structural Concrete - A manual for best practice
This document is intended to become a standard reference that can be used in conjunction with the normal design codes and manuals for work in structural design offices. The objective has been to pre 'good practice' guidance within a working document on structural concrete that can be used to interpret the designer’s instructions in the form of drawings and schedules for communication to the site.
This edition considers the effects of Eurocode 2 on detailing principles and materials and attempts to pre guidance consistent with the Eurocodes. In addition, recent changes in practices and procurement of detailing services have been considered, such as the development of increased off-site fabrication and detailing being undertaken later in the construction sequence through initiatives such as contractor detailing.
The information and advice is based on Eurocodes and UK practice, which is associated with UK materials and labour costs. The principles and details are relevant for use in most parts of the world with only minor adjustment.
As with the original Standard method, the Steering Group was formed from members of both the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Concrete Society. Views have been taken from a wide consultation on the drafts prepared. All have been considered in finalising the document. Consequently the document reflects the current concerns and developments in the field of detailing.
The Steering Group is grateful for the funding pred by the Department of Trade & Industry in support of this project.

Information is presented on prestressed concrete. Benefication of aggregate by heavy-media separation, elastic fractionation and hydraulic jugging and benefication of sand through attrition are discussed. Currently a reexamination of the effect of maximum size aggregates is being made, and significant results to date are included. The use of water-reducing, set-retarding admixtures is sometimes advantageous. Their application and use, together with precautions to be considered, are described. Thermosetting plastics, principally epoxy resins, have great versatility. Their application to bonding of concrete and their use in minor repairs are presented.

Information is presented on the application of mortar lining and coating to steel pipe. Methods of test for pozzolan acceptance, evaluation tests for chemical admixtures, a test for lightweight particles in aggregate, and a relative humidity test for concrete masonry units are included for the first time as test designations. The section on concrete pipe manufacture and testing has been enlarged to reflect changes in specifications. A checklist of inspection items for field construction, which should be helpful to inspectors, is included.
